    Glassberg Conservation Area
    Jefferson County
    January 1, 2013

The New Year's Day Hike was held at the Myron and Sonya Glassberg Family Conservation Area in Northwest Jefferson County. This conservation area is new and has just recently become open to the public. The weather was cold with temperatures in the 20s and light snow on the ground, but typical for this time of year. We hiked about 2 miles from the trailhead at the parking lot to the bluff above the Meramec River and back. The trail gains about 250 feet of vertical elevation from the parking lot in the Labarque Creek valley to the ridge above the Meramec River. From the overlook we saw herds of deer in the fields across the river. Click on "Read More" below to view more photos of the hike.

    December 7-9, 2012

9 scouts and 7 adults camped at Beaumont Reservation over the weekend of December 7-9. The weather was mostly cloudy, wet at times with temps in the 40s and 50s, but not too bad for this time of year. During our check-in, the camp ranger told us that there was a surplus of fire wood available and encouraged its use. Therefore a comfortable campfire burned throughout the weekend.
