Troop Hike Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version
    Wednesday, February 03 2010 @ 12:50 AM UTC

Troop News16 scouts and scout leaders enjoyed a short hike Sunday, January 31, on the Chubb Trail in West St. Louis County. The weather was clear and sunny with the temperature in the 20s. The woods were very still and quiet with 2" of snow cover. We started at the Trailhead parking area behind Lone Elk Park and hiked the trail about 1 1/2 miles west to the old barn after crossing the railroad tracks. At the barn we all enjoyed hot chocolate thanks to Mr. Sandroni and Mr. Schnurbusch, who brought backpack stoves. Continuing west on the trail we came to a creek crossing and elected to return the way we came rather than risking crossing the creek in this cold weather. Hike distance was about 3.5 miles.
